Hey...went to update today and not only did my shortcut get deleted saying the file was removed or relocated, Windows is throwing this virus warning and refusing to start the app.

Thoughts?

johanfrc

There is nothing wrong. It's a false warning.

I understand that..but I couldn't get the application to run - and now my TC install is borked.  Had to completely remove and reinstall.

Should add..maybe so...but Windows Defender really doesn't like AIGTC. It appears this is a common false positive - odd that I haven't had it ever before and I have been using TC since it was available for MSFS.

I will recompile AIGTC later this weekend and hopefully this will fix it

My Windows security found Trojan:Win32/Bearfoos.A!ml in the latest update to AIG Traffic Controller.

Same here impossible to install and run, virus detected as well.

known issue, it is a false positive from the defender. We are working on a solution, I just uploaded a updated EXE to our Discord and are waiting for feedback.

Often AV programs and similar are scanning the codes and even if they find just a bit of code that is similar to a known virus, it will block it. Might only be 1 line that is identical and it will block it. A bit too hard for most people and therefore it's best to whitelist (or exception) the program. Especially because you all know that AIG would NEVER add virus to our programs.

It has especially been an issue with Norton in recent years, but it seems Windows/Microsoft Defender is getting to that level too.. And it's not fun for anyone to get this, because it can be tough/almost impossible to figure out where the line of code it located.

But for AIG TC, please whitelist/add it to the exception list, so your AV program won't scan it. Otherwise it will be quarantined constantly and won't work at all.

Mine is having the same issue. It was working fine until the latest update. I can't find a link or anything for your discord channel so I can get the updated EXE.

Go and make an exception in the AV program so it won't scan the program, and you will be fine.

I fully realise AIG is freeware and as such, we should be grateful to the team for their hard work and thus avoid making unreasonable requests, but I have been using AIG for years with no such issue of virus being detected until this very last release, so it seems that you added something in that latest release that Windows Defender does not like, mistake can happen in the best organisations, so we should keep a watchful eye on such warnings.

I, for one, am very reluctant to simply "open the gate" without knowing who is  getting in.. Would you please kindly let us know when this situation is resolved on this forum, other than on Discord that I can't use? This would be greatly appreciated, thank you again for your work.

Is there a link to the newly compiled version in Discord?  Maybe an ETA when the fixed version is Live by regular download please.  I Love the app and all its updates but want to make sure it runs as perfect as possible.  Thanks

johanfrc

No. It will be released after some internal testing have happened.

Update is online, the only change we did compared to the version that was not detected is the change of the global decial-sperator to "." for the whole application. This was a requirement to make sure the application runs without issues on system with "," as decimal seperator.
Overall it is a big strange and radnom: I have fully scanned both EXE files with Windows Defender on my end and they are all fine without any warning ???
